A total of just 7145 Escort Cosworth’s were built by Karmann on behalf of the Ford Motor Company. The first 2500 being built as Holomigation specials,
to enable Ford compete in the World Rally Championship. Built alongside the regular Escort Cosworth, the Monte Carlo was so named to celebrate Francois
Delecours’s victory on the 1994 Monte Carlo rally. Available from February 1994 in a numbered limited run of just 200 examples.
The Monte Carlo was offered with or without the Aero Pack and in a choice of three colours: Mallard Green, Ash Black or Jewel Violet.
A mere 77 RHD Monte Carlos were manufactured for the UK market.
The distinctive features of the Monte Carlo version were, the Aluminium Gear Knob and a Chromed Handbrake Release Button, OZ Alloy Wheels to replicate
those fitted to WRC car, a unique Steering Wheel and Recaro Seats finished in the Raven trim and “Motorsport” sewn into the seat bolster.
The numbered plaque in place of the Cosworth name on the passenger side dashboard, numbered from 001 to 200, this car being 68.
Externally “Monte” decals on the doors and the tailgate. Most were supplied with the larger more desirable T34/T04B Turbo with Weber-Marelli
Ignition & Injection system, as fitted to this car.
This number 68 Monte was registered on the 23rd of December 1994. Making this one of the last Monte’s to be registered. A Christmas present for a
company owners wife, the supplying dealer being Brighton Ford, the supplying dealer window sticker and registration plates are still fitted to the car.
Having had only three owners since it was registered, a very low owner car. The second owner being the owner of the company that was the first owner,
who changed the V5 in to his personal name, so effectively having just three owners. During its charmed life the Monte has travelled just over 80,000 miles
and been maintained regardless of cost, the previous two owners had the car as part of their personal car collections.
Presented in completely standard specification, other than the very sensible addition of a Stainless Steel Exhaust System and a Thatcham approved
alarm system, recently fitted for insurance purposes. The bodywork is in exceptional condition and is corrosion free and finished in one of the iconic
Monte colours, Mallard Green, which is in stunning condition. Every panel on the car being original and date stamped were applicable, the front spoiler
and splitter being unmarked genuine Ford, this is un heard of, especially in the condition of those fitted to the car. The interior of the Monte is the
Raven Trim with the “Motorsport” embroidered on the front seat base, bolsters all in superb original condition.
Service history is extensive and backed up by a fully stamped Original Service Book, in addition there is a three inch folder with every single receipt,
including the Original Bill of Sale, history really does not come more comprehensive than this.
This Monte, is for a true Ford enthusiast/collector and is a very significant car, that is presented in exceptional original, unrestored condition.
